Geared up (our BL updates)

so, we have been going strong on the diet thing now since
a few weeks before thanksgiving.

i won't lie and say it has been easy.

i will say that a few weeks ago i hit a wall,
i wasn't losing,
and i was a bit depressed about it.

i did another cleanse,
which includes fruits, veggies, and grains (which I had long missed)
and i felt a lot better.

mom and i also realized that the support system makes all the difference

husbands and daughters are great for that.
nay, vital to that.

in fact, this weekend, after my weigh-in,
husband took me to purchase this:

it actually holds up to 12 individualized settings to read your BMI
and tells you the number of calories
you need to comsume to lose fat at your current weight.
rad.

and i really needed one of these:
(both scales are the Biggest Loser brand of course)
this little thing is handy, and keeps me honest and much better
at portion controlling.
good new: 6 oz of chicken is a lot more than you might think...

and the long-awaited:

i love them.
them make me want to run all day.
in fact, i think i will take them to my mom's to go walking
before we watch biggest loser tomorrow...

so,
i finally feel like we can post the results of the meg/peg get skinny fest:

drum roll....

peg: 30 lbs down
meg: 14 lbs down

both over 10% body weight!

i will let you in on a secret...

these are my friends:

also love the ranch, asian silk, honey mustard... pretty much all of them...
they go on everything: chicken, salads...

mrs. dash is the best- and look:
two new kinds!!

[gotta ditch the sodium to lose.
it retains water.
that means us soda drinkers really take a hit,
but it's worth it.]

do i eliminate soda?
hail no.

but i am much better at drinking all 64 water o-z's before i do.
and by that time,
i have been to the other side of the building to pee
like 22 times... not worth it.

favorite veggie currently:
jicama
just go find it, and love on it.
you will be glad you did.

oh and this place:

though you can't see much muscle on me,
i love that i feel stronger....

it is odd how i am so confident walking at night now...
bring it, bad guys...

2009 just might be fine.

remember these goals from last year?

lets see how i did:
(gee, it's good have someone to report to!)

• graduate. check.
• run a marathon (right...)
• direct a show. check and check. (i know, i got nothin on landon and dave ;)
• move out of Utah. check.
• read the BoM twice. um... once. half check.
• find the tact I lost somewhere on the way. (apparently not)
• be more grateful. check and check and check... to name a few...
• go to the gym 3x a week... right. (i did do that during the summer months though, and most of the fall in DC... so about 80%?)
• make more life-long friends. (i have lost a few maybe, the the ones i made may be too many to name... most are in the east. one is in the oregon. miss you all!)
• be a better aunt and visit and spoil lots. i only wish. :(
• help to expand my family. it only takes nine months though, ya know...
• go to my first concert. check, check, and check. (not blogged due to lack of timely fotos was the legwarmers concert. brilliant 80s cover-band in dc.)
• travel out of the country for the first time. nope!
• tell my family I love them more
• read more books. check
• serve more
• smile more
• live more
• and love more

• • • • 2009 • • • •

my self-imposed theme for this year:

JOY in the JOURNEY
"my sincere prayer is that we may adapt to the changes in our lives, that we may realize what is most important, that we may express our gratitude always and thus find joy in the journey."
-Pres. Monson November 2008

my english teacher once asked u to write:
"are you more about the journey or the destination?"
i wanted to get the answer right so i remember thinking about it
long and hard and eventually turned in my mission statement
with these words on the bottom:
"i am all about the journey...
...the destination is my ultimate goal."

this year I hope to:

journal weekly
buy myself a new computer/phone
• run a half marathon
• visit UT to see my family
• record an album
• go to the temple
• read the BoM
• go to at least two concerts
• move permanently to the east
• get my first salary job... very soon
• get out of the country for the first time
• try my hand at patience (giving up on tact-finding)
• take a photography class
• be more grateful
laugh so hard my stomach hurts
• go to nyc to shoot fotos
• buy a car
• call an old friend once a week
• let go of the past
enjoy every day & find something to smile about

good luck to you and yours for 2009
as scary as it is to be unemployed,
unattached,
completely broke,
temporarily at home,
and about to make some of the largest decisions of my 23 years,
this west coast girl, like 2009,
just might be fine...

{happy new year!}

you know you watched it- you know you loved it...

i plan on making a slightly...er...special confession right now.

but first: the inspiration for the confession:

{the Davids}

i have to admit, from day one i was all over david a.
like a bag o chips.
tonight i was wondering if it was even normal
that i wanted to love him all over
probably not- since he's 17...

but that david c- he pulled it off,
and i have to say i think he will be fun.
both of them will produce well and make great records. it will just be fun to see what a producer will do with david a- he could really go 30 ways. i kind of hope a david foster-type will find him and run.
but david c- you got yous some style and a following already and tha's ah-ight by me.

syesha- love you too, and carrie underwood- what the crapnet was you wearing?
and i sure wish they had recorded that one republic and david a's rendish of "apologize".
{sing it} melting!

lets go here- who doesn't want to be on american idol?

which brings me to my confession:
I DO!!!

every time there is a new artist week i spend most of the week thinking of what i would sing and practicing in the shower as if i were there...
and then at the end of the season i usually cry
because i watch some dude get his dream zapped into reality and i can only imagine what that would be like.

so, i would like to make an addendum to my new years goals this year
(but more realistically it would happen a year from now...)

i am so trying out.

lets be honest- i really just want to rock out a few times on that stage and then get kicked off so i can go perform in some show for a while... honestly- would that we a dream or what?

oh- one more confession:
just purchased "one rock and roll too many" (Syesha) on itunes...
5 times and counting... yum. no—6 now....

oh and speaking of goals: 3 weeks and 1 day off of DDP
i awesome.

also- check the other blog for
why you should be heading to the movies ASAP

wanna hear a secret?

something that i love that is green:

my green ipod.

what am i listening to right now on that little device-o-lerv?

these guys.

why? oh cause maybe I am marking something off of my new year's goal list on Friday!!!

thank you meghan (former awesome roommate) for thinking of me while being a part of the fan club.
honestly, i think i have never been to a concert only because i always felt that i didn't know the group well enough to go and be with those that were... like i would be pretending to be one of the fans, when really i was a "yeah, i guess i kinda like em" fan. well i will admit—i happen to be a HUGE fan!!! i will let you know how this "first" goes.

the countdown is on...

Week in review

New Year's Goals:

I went to the Gym
4 times this week!- three of those were to a yoga class that makes my body happy.

I am one week closer to graduating and starting my senior project that just might kill me over. (which involves
directing a show, so I will meet that requirement shortly)

I became an aunt, again! Cute Makenna Camille Moffat was born on Thursday Jan 10th. (I guess I helped to
expand the family.... I am related to them.... and without me I don't know that he would have ever asked her to marry him.) Ok that is bullhucky-(another phrase my mom uses occasionally I still don't understand.)

(Unrelated to the goals) I went and saw a movie that I absolutely loved and adored. My review is on the other blog. I will be owning this hilariously witty and brilliant movie the very second I can.

...And I told some kid that he was ugly with his long Jesus hair and that he should cut it. And I may or may not have mentioned that his hair isn't even the reason I wouldn't date him.
(And then I blogged it.)
I guess I have
353 days left to retrieve my long lost tact.
