81st academy awards nominations: and my opinions on that...

Best Picture:

'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'

'Frost/Nixon'

'Milk'

(not entirely fair because i haven't seen all of these... but I just know...)

Best Actor:

Richard Jenkins 'The Visitor'

Frank Langella 'Frost/Nixon'

Sean Penn 'Milk'

Mickey Rourke 'The Wrestler'

Best Actress:

Anne Hathaway 'Rachel Getting Married'

Melissa Leo 'Frozen River'

Meryl Streep 'Doubt'

Angelina Jolie 'Changeling'

Kate Winslet 'The Reader'

(hard to say between these... both fantastic, and up next to Meryl.... tough gig. I still need to see that one!)

Best Supporting Actor:

Josh Brolin 'Milk'

Robert Downey Jr. 'Tropic Thunder'

Philip Seymour Hoffman 'Doubt'

Heath Ledger 'The Dark Knight' (i happen to know a few that vote... and i know how we all would vote.... sad to be Philip this year to be honest...)

Michael Shannon 'Revolutionary Road'

Best Supporting Actress:

Amy Adams 'Doubt'

Penelope Cruz 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'

Viola Davis 'Doubt'

Taraji P. Henson 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'

Best Director:

David Fincher 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'

Ron Howard 'Frost/Nixon'

Gus Van Sant 'Milk'

Stephen Daldry 'The Reader'

Danny Boyle 'Slumdog Millionaire' (again, perhaps I am biased, but nevertheless...)

Best Animated Feature Film:

'Bolt'

'Kung Fu Panda'

'Wall-E' (though Kung Fu looked hilarious)

Best Adapted Screenplay:

'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'

'Doubt' (this is because i happen to know the play very well and love what they did with the film, though truth be told, it may not be enough for the big button or the dogs...)

'Frost/Nixon'

'The Reader'

'Slumdog Millionaire'

Best Original Screenplay:

'Frozen River'

'Happy-Go-Lucky'

'In Bruges'

'Milk'

'Wall-E'

The 81st Academy Awards take place on

February 22 at the Kodak Theatre* in Hollywood.

*maybe this is where my brother just performed in a little show with a few big names you may have heard of.... and maybe it was a hysterical experience for all...

  1. Ok, before I comment on your Oscar predictions, I must send you to this blog I frequently stalk. I just remember you mentioning these colors and I know this is very premature, but still, thought you needed to see it: http://snippetandink.blogspot.com/2009/02/board-342-green-apple-and-black.html

Now, I must say Kung Fu Panda was a brilliant film and should win over Wall E. That's pretty much all I got since I am limited on the movies I see in the theater.
