• run a marathon (right...)
• read the BoM twice. um... once. half check.
• find the tact I lost somewhere on the way. (apparently not)
• go to the gym 3x a week... right. (i did do that during the summer months though, and most of the fall in DC... so about 80%?)
• make more life-long friends. (i have lost a few maybe, the the ones i made may be too many to name... most are in the east. one is in the oregon. miss you all!)
• be a better aunt and visit and spoil lots. i only wish. :(
• help to expand my family. it only takes nine months though, ya know...
• travel out of the country for the first time. nope!
• tell my family I love them more
• serve more
• smile more
• live more
• and love more

my self-imposed theme for this year:
• JOY in the JOURNEY •
"my sincere prayer is that we may adapt to the changes in our lives, that we may realize what is most important, that we may express our gratitude always and thus find joy in the journey."
-Pres. Monson November 2008
my english teacher once asked u to write:
"are you more about the journey or the destination?"
i wanted to get the answer right so i remember thinking about it
long and hard and eventually turned in my mission statement
with these words on the bottom:
"i am all about the journey...
...the destination is my ultimate goal."
this year I hope to:
• journal weekly
• buy myself a new computer/phone
• run a half marathon
• visit UT to see my family
• record an album
• go to the temple
• read the BoM
• go to at least two concerts
• move permanently to the east
• get my first salary job... very soon
• get out of the country for the first time
• try my hand at patience (giving up on tact-finding)
• take a photography class
• be more grateful
• laugh so hard my stomach hurts
• go to nyc to shoot fotos
• buy a car
• call an old friend once a week
• let go of the past
• enjoy every day & find something to smile about
good luck to you and yours for 2009
as scary as it is to be unemployed,
unattached,
completely broke,
temporarily at home,
and about to make some of the largest decisions of my 23 years,
this west coast girl, like 2009,
just might be fine...
{happy new year!}
Permanetly to the East coast? For real? Are you sure? I mean, I know Cosi's is the best ever...but I don't think it's worth leaving the wonderful West.
ReplyDeleteLove the photography class idea. If, for some odd reason, you're in UT for the months of Feb and March I'm taking one and you can join me:)
And traveling out of the country---if you go to the continent known as Europe and you're not on something like a honeymoon, I may have to tag along.
Way to rock your 2008, girl. You got lots done...like, big things.
ReplyDeleteI wish you another amazing 365!
Love, Love, Love this post! And you did better then I did at my 2008 goals that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Oh Meg...we really are too much alike. I just finished my blog of new year's resolutions and have just read over yours...we have a few that are very similar! Maybe if we combine our forces we can do it ALL! Good luck with those goals. YOU CAN DO IT! LOVES!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you accomplished a lot and then you give yourself more.... what's wrong with you? Relish in your accomplishments for a while. Do nothing. Sit in front of the fire with some hot chocolate. Ok. Ok. I know you have goals to accomplish. I really like the one about visiting Utah! Love you!
ReplyDeleteHey im glad to see that someone can git r' done with their New years resolutions. One of mine was to have ten songs written..granted i only got to nine and they're VERY cheesy.. But hey! What can you expect from a seventeen year old? Good luck in the year to come :] Love ya!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you need a blessing from your dad for 2009. Decisions are hard to make on your own...
ReplyDeleteJust a little advice from a good ole friend...
I love your blog and the smiles it brings me. You are so amazing for getting so many things on your new years resolution list complete! I'm sure you'll be able to get everything done this year too if you put your mind to it. I will love hearing about all your stories as you work on each one as well! You go girlie!
ReplyDeleteway to go with the resolutions! even though its been a while since i've seen you, I always enjoy your blog updates. they are quite creative!! I watch it frequently so thanks for updating as much as you do!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the small reminder that it took me forever to get you pictures... I did send them to you right?
ReplyDeleteAnd ps - no one told me that was your first concert!
