miss independent... sort of...

"...I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that?"
-Chris Gardner, The Pursuit of Happyness

i was thinking about this today...
it's an interesting thought that we create our own happiness.
we have to look for it,
strive for it,
and then hold on to it with both hands.
one of my favorite quotes is one that is ironical
because i fail to follow its precept:

"Do not wait until everything is perfect to be happy or optimistic,
be superior to circumstances."
-Unknown

i sometimes wish i just could move away and do what i am going to do for the rest of my life... like right now... whatever that is. i am so impatient. i get down easily just waiting for life to happen. i wish i were in love and married and feeling like i have people to take care of so my life doesn't feel so self-centered... then i remember that i have it all right here: awesome family, great friends... a car and gavin degraw and a 5-hour drive to play with a brother that you adore, and money to spend on awesome jeans to make you feel skinny...

It is a good thing to be free.

what is not cool... is putting in an awful rap cd, just to see if it is any good, only to find out it isn't.. and then it gets stuck in the cd player... serious lack of freedom there...

  2. Richie and I still talk about the days when we were single.... of course for us "single" now means "married without kids." I remember when I used to be able to just hop in the car and go......
